(06/08/2003): Education & Fund Raising 2003

Tetras together with volunteers from the medical faculty help to run an awareness cum fund raising project in support of TTSH's needy patient/support groups on 4th & 6th Aug.

(28/06/2003): Wataboshi Music Festival 2003

Tetras with the help of volunteers attended Wataboshi Music Festival 2003 at the Esplanade concert hall.

Members from Operation Tashi Delag expedition, 2001 organized an outing for Tetraplegia Workgroup members.

Program: to enjoy nature, have fun, and make friends.

Organized by a group of enthusiastic volunteers (Leadership Programme 24).

(22/07/2002): TTSH-Medical Students Fund Raising

22/7: Toa Payoh MRT and Raffles MRT
23/7: Toa payoh MRT and Raffles MRT
24/7: Great World City

Timing: 11am - 4pm

About 25-50 students will be at the above sites per day to raise funds. There will be posters on each of the groups, including Tetraplegia Workgroup, at the sites.

(29/04/2002): Sungei Buloh outing on 27th April 2002

Many thanks to Raleigh Singapore Post Tashi Deleg for raising funds through a calender sale last year and subsequently organising a successful outing for tetraplegic persons on 27th April.

We had a good time in the mangrove swamp among some birds, despite the wet weather. Some participants have requested for more such outings in the future!

Special thanks to Tiong Thye, Sheau Wen, Hui Li, Chan Peng, Koon Heng and many others for all the hard work. Thanks also to Vasanth and other TW volunteers who came.

(29/04/2002): Fund Raising

Thanks to Lim Soon Hoe for personally raising $1625 through friends. We thank the unnamed persons for their generous contribution to Tetraplegia Workgroup.

(29/04/2002): Society for Physically Disabled and Voices

Ms Chia Woon Yee, Hans and Lutin from SPD have initiated a programme to improve IT skills among tetraplegic persons, specifically looking at the use of Assisted Technology like Via Voice etc.

Chua Chee Siong, Rajinder and Koon Heng are currently being orientated to Via Voice and learning to do Powerpoint presentations.

(25/03/2002) PC upgraded:

Marc Thio and Vincent have pooled together donated PCs, refurbished them and distributed 3 sets thus far, with 2 more sets pending. We may be looking at upgrading existing systems at a later point of time.

We are also hoping that the Central Development Council PC Reuse Scheme will soon approve of 2 additional PC systems.

(09/02/2002) Outing to Sentosa:

DBS and National Volunteer Centre organised an outing to Sentosa Underwater World for 20 tetraplegic persons on Saturday, 9th Feb 2002.

The tetraplegic participants had a great time touring the Underwater World, followed by a lunch feast. Transport was provided by 20 London Cabs from TIBS.

On behalf of all Tetraplegia Workgroup members, especially the tetraplegic participants, we'd like to thank all those in NVC, DBS and TIBS who made this possible.

(14/01/2002) TW News:

We are in the process of equipping 6 tetraplegic persons with PCs and upgrading PCs for another 6/7 persons.

Together with Society for the Physically Disabled, we are working out suitable IT training programmes starting with 5 of our tetraplegic persons, exploring assisted technology in
the process.

The eventual aim and hope for the programmes will be employment. This will take time and lots of perserverence but we'll give it our best shot.

(01/11/2001) Walking in the Clouds:

Mountaineer Khoo Swee Chiow's 1st 8000 meter peak without oxygen. The 1st South East Asian to climb an 8000 meter peak without oxygen and now he is the only South East Asian to have climbed three 8000 meter peaks.

Come listen to the story of his Shishapangma (8,027m) expedition and enjoy the natural beauty of Tibet.

The first outing for TW in year 2001.

"As every thread of gold is valuable, so is the moment of time." Even the time to get together is short, the joy & fun to see each other is tremendous.

Our Workgroup has acquired some funds through the help of adventurer Khoo Swee Chiow's extreme North Charity mission.

This fund will be used mainly for:
- Activities organized by the Tetraplegia Workgroup
- Transportation subsidies
